Radhika Patel (b.1999, New York) is an American artist specializing in portraiture. Based in New York City, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities with a Special Concentration in Business Management from Columbia University in May 2022. While she pursues her studies as a future physician at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, her art is a creative outlet that provides her with a different perspective on the human condition.

Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a young child, my world opened up through pencils and charcoal, pastels and paint. The first time I took a portraiture class, I fell in love with how it taught me a way of looking deeply at the person before me. I began to study around me with an artist's eye, recognizing the nuances that made each face unique. The techniques and proportions were challenging, yet they felt simple in comparison to capturing the subtle hints of light and color that sparked life. I would spend hours shaping an elderly man's wrinkle to speak of laughter instead of sorrow and hours more discovering just the right shade of blue for a child's tear-bright eyes.

Today, my curiosity to understand the human body and how it works is what drives my journey in medicine, but it also parallels my identity as an artist. I turn to art as a creative outlet that provides me with a different perspective on the human condition. Each piece in my collection is an exploration of form and emotion, blending my fascination with anatomy with my passion for art. My goal as an artist is to thus explore the magical connections that make us human, rooted in the pursuit of understanding people and celebrating humanity. I hope that it too inspires you to move beyond your own perspective, look closely at the people you encounter, and wonder about their stories.
